Lasha Kurtanidze’s Father Doubts His Son Is Already Detained

June 19, 2012

Father of the concealed police officer Lasha Kurtanidze doubts police officers have already detained his son; Zaur Kurtanidze told TV-Company Channel 9 yesterday.

“On that night, police officers had sieged our house and Zura could not escape them. I doubt they have already arrested him,” Zaur Kurtanidze said and added that police officers are still patrolling near our house.

The father of the police officer appeals to the government and warns them. “I warn the government not to fulfill their threat which my son mentioned in his letter. They must do any harm to my son and reimburse all the damage he has endured,” Zaur Kurtanidze said.

He suggested the MIA to name those police officers who kidnapped and physically assaulted his son.

According to the MIA, Zaza Chelidze bribed police officer Lasha Kurtanidze and requested to secretly record general feelings of police officers. MIA claims Chelidze gave Kurtanidze an envelope sent by Irakli Sesiashvili and there was 3 000 USD in it. Chelidze said during testimony that he had assigned Kurtanidze’s recorded materials to Sesiashvili.

On Sunday, Irakli Sesiashvili made special statement with regard to this issue. He said Zaza Chelidze’s testimony was result of oppression and declared the accusation to be absurd.

According to the MIA, Kurtanidze concealed himself after the testimony and now he is sought.
