Banner Against Georgian Dream in Zestaponi

June 21, 2012

Civil Development Institute discovered a banner against “Kartuli Otsneba” (Georgian Dream) in Zestaponi.

“Say no to Georgia built with non-Georgian dream of Ivanishvili, Khidasheli, Davitashvili, Alasania and Berdzenishvili! Say no to the politicians sold for money! Make the right choice! There is a lot to be destroyed,” this message was on the banner, with the election number of the National Movement”5”.

Head of the institute Ia Antadze told InterPressNews, the banner was on the shop at the entrance to Zestaponi market. Lawyers said the banner is violation of law due to its content.

“A citizen sent the photo of the banner to us. Initially we doubted it was a photo manipulation, so we verified the information before publishing it. So, this banner is hanging over a shop in the entrance to Zestaponi market”, Ia Antadze said.

Antadze says that the Civil Development Institute is not going to take any measures with regard to the incident, because their obligation is to just get and disseminate information.

“We carry out activities in the framework of the project, supported by UN Democracy Fund. We have never responded to the facts. Our goal is to collect and spread information. We created information bank with two baskets - verified and unverified information”, Antadze said.
