President’s Administration Denies Information about Saakashvili’s Illness

June 27, 2012

Printed media spread information that foreign doctors diagnosed maniacal-depressive psychosis for Mikheil Saakashvili; however president’s administration does not confirm the spread information.

President’s spokesperson said Mikheil Saakashvili did not travel abroad for medical examination at all.

“I cannot even comment on this issue because it is ridiculous. President feels fine and he has scheduled business visits to various foreign countries. Today he is leaving for Istanbul and then he will fly to Brussels and Baku,” Manana Manjgaladze clarified to the Netgazeti.

Information about president’s health conditions was spread by June 26 issue of the newspaper Alia. According to the edition, on June 14, 2012 Mikheil Saakashvili was examined in Vilnius Hospital and doctors made the diagnosis.

“On previous night, President of Georgia was taken to Lithuania by plane in extremely poor conditions; local psychiatrists concluded after 7-year medical examination that he had “chronic form of maniacal-depressive psychosis,” the edition reports.
