Criminal Case Launched against Zakaria Kinkladze’s Wife

June 29, 2012

Criminal case was launched against Maia Tsulukidze, wife of Zakaria Kinkladze, head of Georgian Dream’s Akhmeta office. Kinkladze’s lawyer Keti Zakariashvili informed ICK about it.

Lawyer said Maia Tsulukidze is accused of swindle.

“Criminal case against Maia Tsulukidze was launched on June 26. She is accused of swindle alleging she had extorted “orange cards” [credit card of the Bank of Georgia] from teachers, who had received them from the President as presents and misappropriated them. If she had misappropriated the credit cards, why she was paying percent fee one year long? The case was launched under Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia that means misappropriation of other’s property through cheating. In fact it is civil case but they qualified it as criminal one. Maia Tsulukidze was interrogated yesterday,” Keti Zakariashvili said.

On June 24, Akhetma district officers arrested Zakaria Kinkladze for minor hooliganism. Employee of Akhmeta district administration and member of the United National Movement Paata Sukhishvili had sued him at the police. Judge Labaza Duishvili at the Telavi District Court sentenced Kinkladze to 25-day administrative imprisonment. The judge carried out trial without lawyer, journalists and other interested people.
