Otar Chrdileli:”They Arrested one of Kaladze’s Body Guards and Georgian Dream Activists Illegally”

July 17, 2012

Tsotne Shengelia, one of Kaladze’s body guards, Kakhaber Gogiashvili and Vladimer Janezashvili, activists with Georgian Dream, were arrested illegally. This is what Otar Chrdileli, press speaker of Kakhi Kaladze, one of the leaders of Georgian Dream, told “Interpressnews”.

“The court made an illegal decision when they sentenced Kakhaber Gogiashvili, who was beaten severely, to 15 days imprisonment.  He is still in the prison. There will not be justice in this country while Saakashvili is governing”, Chrdileli said.

According to Chrdileli the court began urgently at 01:30 a.m. and finished at 06:30 a.m.

“They did not inform Tsotne Shengelia’s lawyers about arresting him. He was arrested in Samtredia and was then taken to the Gori police department. Nobody even knew where Shengelia was. He did not have a lawyer during the trial”, Chrdileli said.

According to Chrdileli , Giorgi Gochashvili and Levan Maisuradze, inhabitants of the IDP settlement in Karaleti village who were also sentenced to 15 days in prison, were attacking members of Georgian Dream.

Today the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) released information about arresting five persons connected to the incident in Karaleti.

“There was an incident in Karaleti between supporters and opponents of Georgian Dream on July 11, 2012. Verbal insults were followed by physical confrontation. As a result of police analysis of video  footage from the incident, Tsotne Shengelia, Kakha Gogiashvili, Vladimer Janezashvili and Giorgi Gochashvili, all participants in the incident, were identified and arrested.

Levan Maisuradze, who attacked “INFO9”journalist Saba Tsitsikashvil verbally and physically, was also arrested. Gori regional court sentenced all of the five arrested people to 15 days administrative imprisonment”, the statement read.Interpressnews
