“I Thought You Were Clever Girl”

August 14, 2012
Representative of the Poti youth branch of Georgian Dream Mashiko Melkadze said an employee of the Isle Settlement territorial entity within the City Hall Levan Sichinava tried to win her over.

Mashiko Melkadze said Levan Sichinava requested her to give a list of Coalition members and supporters together with relevant information in exchange of well-paid job.

“I thought you were a clever girl and why did you join the Georgian Dream?” Sichinava asked me and gave one day to think over his proposal,” Mashiko Melkadze told humanrights.ge.

However, Melkadze used the one-day time not to think over the proposal but to prove the fact of gaining her over and recorded Sichinava’s conversation. She said several people witnessed their conversation. Afterwards, Melkadze declined Sichinava’s proposal and as Melkadze alleges she was threatened.

We tried to get in touch with Levan Sichinava but he did not answer our phone calls.

Mashiko Melkadze has seasonal job at a Poti passed firm Paliastomi – 2004. Short time ago, she was called from the office and informed about her dismissal because of her political affiliation.
