Georgian Dream’s Coordinator Was Recruited to Army After Being Declined Three Times

August 21, 2012

Georgian Dream’s coordinator in Mleta zone, Dusheti region Zura Burduli was recruited to the compulsory military service. Zurab Burduli, 25, reported to ICMM that he has health problems and was declined by military office three times on that ground. “Now I am in Tbilisi based recruiters’ distribution office. Head of Dusheti district military service Beso Undilashvili is ordering doctors to write positive answers to all questions because I must go to the army by all means,” Zurab Burduli said.

He said he can provide medical documents but they do not give him time to collect documents. “Beso Undilashvili directly demanded commission to send me to the army. However, the military service has declined me three times because of my health problems. Now, they want to deliver me from the Georgian Dream. They have tried it several times but could not manage it,” Burduli told ICMM.

ICMM tried to call Beso Undilashvili, head of Military Service at the Dusheti district administration, but his cell phone is unavailable.

Office of Recruiters Distribution is subdivision of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. The head of Ministry’s press-center Maia Sikharulidze promised ICMM that she would search the information first and would make comment on the issue in an hour.

Zura Burduli has already faced some other problems because of Georgian Dream. For the participation in the July 1 assembly of the Georgian Dream in Mtskheta he and his friends were summoned to police. Zura Burduli was actively cooperating with journalists with regard to problems in Mleta zone.
