Members of Georgian Dream Arrested in Kvareli

September 5, 2012

On September 4, Levan Khutsishvili and Zaza Rostiashvili-the members of the coalition Georgian Dream were arrested in Kvareli late at night. The police charged them for minor hooliganism.

As Levan Khutsishvili’s sister Nino Khutsishvili- INFO 9 journalist, told Information Centre of Kakheti both members of the Georgian Dream were arrested groundlessly for the political reason.

“My brother Levan Khutsishvili, active member of the Georgian Dream is coordinator of Kvareli district zone. He was at his friend Zaza Rostiashvili’s house in Shilda village late at night yesterday. Rostiashvili is also member of the Georgian Dream and recently both were suggested to leave the coalition. Yesterday at 01:00a.m the police burst into his house as if it was special operation. They told my brother they had testimony against him that he had called neighbor “You nationalist [member of the National Movement]” and your neighbor was bothered by your cursing at home. The police said he was accused of insulting person. The neighbor is Bacho Nikolozishvili- relative of the National Movement’s coordinator. He was instructed to sue those people at the police,” Nino Khutsishvili told ICK.

She added, late at night, when she was trying to clear up the incident details Bacho Nikolozishvili insulted her physically and verbally.

“I am the INFO 9 journalist. So I came to the place of incident to cover it. Bacho Nikolozishvili met me on the road. I asked him very peacefully what had happened. In the beginning he explained that my brother called him nationalist, they were cursing and he felt insulted. Besides that, he said his wife and child were at home and he could not forgive my brother having insulted him. Then he attacked me, he was drunk and insulted me physically and verbally…I have the video of this incident and I will publish it. I went to the police office and requested them to question me. I told the police that I was victim; I had video to prove my allegation. I called emergency number 122 five times, I called Prosecutor’s Office and other departments. At last I was questioned. I asked them when they were going to take measures against the violator and they said they would decide,” Nino Khutsishvili stated.

On September 5, Gurjaani district court found Levan Khutsishvli and Zaza Rostiashvili guilty and imposed fine of 400 lari on them.
