Continuation of Secret Meeting -Sons of Georgian Dream’s Coordinators Recruited

Members of the coalition Georgian Dream state that sons of their coordinators were recruited to military service. Representatives of the Coalition’s local office provided Human Rights Centre with the list of some people who were recruited only because they supported the opposition parties.

While talking to Humanrights.ge the opposition stated that two of these people had health problems and they were illegally recruited to military service.

We contacted several people who refused to reveal their personality but while talking on the phone they expressed their doubts that they were recruited because their cooperation with Georgian Dream. Mother of the two recruiters is the coordinator of the coalition in one of the villages and this fact intensifies the doubt.

“Although my wife is pregnant they called me, but did not recruit me in the military service”,-one of the recruiters told us. He cannot use left hand because of the past trauma. So they must not have called him up because of his health problems.

“I hold doctor’s notification that my left hand is paralyzed. Anyway, they called me up and I was examined for military service. Though, they did not call me up, not because of my health problem but for my wife’s pregnancy. I am at home till September 19. I do not know what will be afterwards”,-said the young man.

Two months ago, the Civic Development Institute released the information about the meeting held in Guria. According to this information the meeting was held in Guria where the region governor gave the following instructions to district governors. The latter were obliged to transfer these instructions to the village attorneys. Consequently, the Guria local government works according to these orders. Some points are obscure in the list without verbal explanations but the general situation is still clear-how the administrative resource is mobilized for preparing the elections.

3. To submit coordinators’ list, detailed information about them (information containing data like CV)

4. To present youth HQs, detailed information about staff members (CVs are desirable)

8. How much money is left after the tenders and what projects we can spend those funds on

As we see, the government had been collecting information about the youth of military ago for a long time (see instruction 6- The process of calling up youths of paramilitary age-their list”).This information was used against oppositionist families.
