Monopoly of Advertising Space

September 13, 2012

Kutaisi is meeting 2012 Parliamentary Elections with monotonous advertising space. Only National Movement managed to create pre-election environment in the parliamentary capital. Only ruling party occupied the advertising billboards located in Kutaisi.

Local offices of the opposition political parties state shortage of their advertising materials and existing monopoly is result of financial factor. Kutaisi based advertising companies estimated tariffs and only ruling party could afford it.

Coalition Georgian Dream’s Kutaisi office has different problems. They said: “First of all, the National Movement completely occupied the advertising space. Then none of advertising companies accepted our order. However, we promise our voter we will soon resolve the problem and in near future will place our advertisements next to the monopolist National Movement.”

Christian Democrats said they cannot compete with the National Movement but will launch the advertising campaign anyway. Their local representatives clarified that their banners will soon appear in Kutaisi.
