Facts of Voters-Bribery in Kutaisi

September 17, 2012

On September 15 Anzor Tkhilashvili majoritarian candidate in Adjara Supreme Council held briefing in the Kobuleti office of the Georgian Dreams and mentioned several cases of voters-buying.

Tkhilashvili said that governmental officials often violate the Election Code, particularly - Article 47 which envisages voters’ bribery. “In exchange of 100 votes they promise the families of prisoners to mitigate their punishments and if they are charged for minor crimes the prisoners will be released. Families of several prisoners shared this information with us but they decided to stay anonymous. Several Kindergartens are built in Kobuleti. National Movement demands 100 votes from the people, who are interested to work there. National Movement promises the socially vulnerable families to grant allowance in exchange of votes. Besides that, land legalization process is going very fast and district election commission members are involved in this process.”

Majoritarian candidate did not name any person who was bribed in order not to create problems for them.
