September 25, 2012

Actors of Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre refused to participate in the performance. They protest prisoners’ abuse facts.

On September 22 the play “Last Stop” was scheduled in Batumi State Drama Theatre. However, actors and theatre manager decided to stage the performance on October 6, after the Election Day..

Tite Komakhidze, Actor: “I am still shocked with those images I saw on TV. I still hear the juvenile prisoner’s voice, his crying-“Do not kill me, what have I done...” I have no right to play. I am not going to play at all.”

Zaza Khalvashi, Theatre Director: “It is theater’s human position or position of civil society. All our actors are at work and they want to express their position in this way.”

Actors said the performance is about violence and close to nowadays’ situation. But, they cannot play. The actors met audience at the entrance of the theatre.
