Several Public Servants Join Georgian Dream

September 26, 2012

Employees of public services also support election bloc Bidzina Ivanishvili – Georgian Dream and their majoritarian candidate Eka Beselia. Having seen horrifying video-footage on Georgian TV-channels, many supporters have abandoned the ruling party. They have either joined Georgian Dream or completely quit politics.

Deputy Director of Poti Public School # 7 Zaza Churgulia publicly demonstrated his negative attitude towards the government at a briefing after seeing the video-footage. He said it was first time he could not enter the classroom to give a lesson to the children.

Like Churgulia, National Movement’s coordinator in Poti Nana Davitaia left the ruling party and joined Georgian Dream. Her decision was caused by the video-footage of prisoners’ torture. A member of the Poti City Council from the National Movement Enver Sichinava also quit the ruling party. He said he will soon file his resignation letter to the chairman of the city council. He said the horrible videos made such an impression on him that he decided to leave the ruling party’s local election HQ too, though UNM’s majoritarian candidate Sarishvili is his friend. Sichinava said he will not support the ruling party in the upcoming elections.

Three years ago Enver Sichinava was a successful businessman in Poti. According to our information, his business has suffered under this government. Once he was fined with several million lari, which impacted negatively on his business.

Several days ago, chief specialist of the Sport Service at the Poti City Hall Zuri Malania also publicly declared his support for Georgian Dream. He is a coach of one of the most popular sports in Poti, rowing, which is now in decline. Iago Sordia, Champion of Georgia, Caucasus and Europe in mixed combats, also supports the coalition. Some other employees of the Poti City Hall Davit Kvitsiani, Zurab Khaindrava and Lasha Gobejishvili also support the coalition.
