MIA Blames Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Nephew in Bribery of Police Officers

Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia unclosed facts of attempted bribery of public servants, including police officers; members of the Georgian Dream and people linked with the coalition participated in it - Detective Levan Tsiklauri announced at the briefing in MIA.

He said, unfortunately similar facts have frequently occurred recently. We arrested Giorgi Gerkerashvili, Giorgi Dzotsenidze, Koba Samkharadze and police officer Roman Maisuradze.

In one case of police officer’s bribery, MIA withdrew offered 50 000 USD.

Detective said investigation is also studying participation of other persons in the alleged crimes. Since majoritarian candidate Aleko Tabatadze is also connected with one bribery fact, MIA will send related materials to the Chief Prosecutor’s Office for further procedures.

Deputy Minister of Interior Shota Khizanishvili told journalists that Bidzina Ivanishvili’s nephew also participated in these facts but he is not arrested yet.

MIA delivered the video-footage reflecting the bribery and attempted bribery of police officers and public servants to journalists.
