Statement of the Network of Information Centers on CEC Decision

September 26, 2012

Network of Information Centers, which unites Information Centers of Kakheti (http://www.ick.ge/) and Mtskheta-Mtianeti (http://www.icmm.ge/), calls upon the Central Election Commission not to pass the resolution on prohibiting photo and video recording in polling stations on the Election Day.

“We believe that if CEC approves the draft-resolution, process of election transparency will be considerably restricted. Journalists will not be able to shoot violations on election stations.

We call on the local and international observing organizations to take urgent measures to prevent CEC from passing the above-mentioned resolution. It will contradict the Election Code and makes working of independent journalists senseless.”
