Secret information that is exchanged between countries cannot be made public. French ambassador Rene Salens said this today.
Like many countries, Georgia and France cooperate to fight against crime. In order to combat criminals, all countries exchange information with each other. Quite often information is exchanged in order to determine the truth. Information that is secret cannot be disclosed to the public. The public, including journalists, have no need to be made aware of certain information , and it makes no difference how they have obtained it. Such material is for investigation only and it’s considered as confidential, so it should not be publicized.”- Rene Salens said. According to him, he held discussions about this with Vano Merabishvili, Prime Minister of Georgia.
“I had a long meeting with Mr. Merabishvili. I explained the things I have talked about already. The Prime Minister accepted everything with understanding. And finally I want to say that France, along with all the European Union countries, supports holding safe elections in Georgia. Regardless of which party wins, it is the people's choice and we want see that this process takes place peacefully. The parliament should be elected by the people” said the ambassador.
The ambassador’s statement was released by Rustavi 2.
