National Movement’s Majoritarian Candidate Participates in the Video about Prisoners’ Torture?!

October 5, 2012

Kakha Butskhrikidze is known as Bacho Akhalaia’s ally and obedient implementer of his orders. People say Butskhrikidze was leading the dispersal of 2006 prison riot too.

According to the materials published in newspaper Alia Kakha Butskhrikidze participated in the raid of TV-Company Imedi in 2007. At that time he was head of a riot police of the penitentiary department.

However, Butskhrikidze was most frequently mentioned with regard to recent events in Georgian penitentiary system. He participated in one of the most horrifying episodes of inhuman treatment in prisons.

According to the confidential source, a person who offers the abused prisoner to have a smoke (this person is not seen in the video but his voice is clearly heard) is Kakha Butskhrikidze.

UNM representative himself politely and stubbornly denies this accusation.

Member of the Human Rights Committee of the previous parliament Dimitry Lortkipanidze suggested Butskhrikidze to take phonoscope expertise which will identify the person according to his voice and speech manner.
