Kutaisi Appeal Court Liberated Georgian Dream’s 13 Activists

Dimitri Samkharadze is one of those 6 activists of the Georgian Dream, who were arrested on the election day under the charge of administrative violation. On October 3 Judge Vera Dolidze discharged Samkharadze. Participants of Batumi protest rally of September 26, 2011 still serve their term according to Vera Dolidze’s verdict.

Samkharadze was arrested for minor hooliganism according to the Article 166 of the Administrative Code of Georgia.

On October 3 Vera Dolidze liberated Samkharadze from the imposed sanction. The same judge liberated Teimuraz Chipashvili, Aliko Kozua, Gizo Tsatsua from the courtroom. These people were arrested under the Article 166 too.

Besides that, on October 3 Kutaisi Appeal Court discussed the case of Georgian Dream’s 13 activists, who were sentenced to imprisonment by the City Court. Though, on October 3 the Appeal Court liberated them.

Kutaisi Appeal Court discharged the following people from administrative liability: Giorgi Meskhia, Mamuka Akhalaia, Givi Mukeria, Lasha Kvaratskhelia, Goderdzi Shonia, Roman Geguchadze, Malkhaz Kupradze, Revaz Kozua, and Grigol Dalakishvili.

Police arrested the aforementioned people for minor hooliganism and for disobedience to legal requirement or demand of either law enforcement or military officers. Georgian Dream stated that police arrested these people for political reason.
