According to coalition, Kakha Kaladze won majoritarian elections in Samtredia

October 9, 2012

On October 1, during the elections, there was a difficult situation in number 18 district election commission because 10 designated ballots were discovered at number 21 polling station.  Avto Lomaia, the Head of the district commission, went there to investigate the problem.

“Those ballots were annulled and the problem was solved. But I can assure you that it was problem of printing rather than marking ballot papers”, said the chairman of district commission #54.

Similar complaints were written in the number 18 polling station. Manana Shengelia, a representative of the Conservative party, says that on 10 ballots issued by three registrars she noticed “strange designations (-) (.) written with pen”. Tamaz Akhobaze, a representative of the district commission stated that this was a printing defect. However, his explanation was not convincing. The Chairman of district commission annulled these ballots.

At number 20 polling station observers were unable to monitor registrars, because there was not enough space and observers were unable to stand behind the registrars.  “Observers may stand in any other place and observe the election process. It is not necessary for observers to stand behind the registrars” said Nino Lekveishvili, Chairman of number 20 polling station, to observers.

District election chairmen talked about insufficient ballots:  “In most cases the exact number of voters do not come to elections. We have 48 362 voters and we only got 44 050 ballots form CEC.”

At 3 o’clock the spare labeling machine broke down in number 35 polling station, due to which voters were unable to vote for half hour. There was no other machine so they waited until district election commission delivered it there.

Voter turnout was 48,93 % at three o’clock.

On October 2 at ten o’clock the final report was delivered to Georgian Dream's office in Samtredia stating that Kakhi Kaladze, the majoritarian candidate from Georgian Dream, had won the elections.
