Will Infrastructural Works Finish in Lanchkhuti Villages or Not?

October 12, 2012

Nino Mshvidobadze, Guria

Some time before elections, local authority started putting gravel in the roads of every village in Lanchkhuti district. Initially they put gravel on the roads and then they made it even. However, it did not help damaged roads because rain washed gravel away and villagers are still walking along muddy roads.

In addition to that, there is one more problem – gravel was not made even in several villages. For example, there were gravel hills in Chanchati village on the Election Day. This village subordinates to Aketi administrative entity where Georgian Dream defeated National Movement and its majoritarian candidate Gia Goguadze with much preference.

Chanchati residents say the acting village attorney Soso Baramidze refused to finish road-paving activities.

Vakhtang Zenaishvili, member of the local office of the Georgian Dream, said it is sabotage: “At the moment government transition is underway. Old government is authorized and responsible to finish launched infrastructural activities. But they should not continue their cruel and bad activities. I think, they will implement their responsibilities. Otherwise, their behavior will be evaluated as sabotage and will be held responsible for it. We will wait for them for two or three days. I hope everything will be ok.”

Humanrights.ge got in touch with the chairman of the Lanchkhuti municipal board Revaz Chitidze and asked to make comment on the issue.

-Mr. Rezo, road graveling process has not finished in several villages of Lanchkhuti district. Some attorneys tell villagers that new government shall finish the work. What do you think about it?

-All infrastructural activities, which were launched with financial support of local government, will continue by all means. Any project, which we started, will continue and end at certain time. The road graveling process was not finished only in several places. We have not completed renovation of Mamati Bridge either. But exact terms are fixed in agreements and everything will be done in accordance to the agreements.

-For example, people in Chanchati said acting attorney of Aketi administrative entity told them – I will not make the gravel even; let new government finish it…

-I cannot confirm or deny this information. It cannot be truth.

-Did the road graveling process finish in Chanchati?

-Some of our projects have not finished yet. Though there will not be delay and the process will finish within estimate terms.
