Hostages Kidnapped in South Ossetia Released

October 16, 2012

On October 10, armed people kidnapped two residents of Sachkhere district Amiran and Zurab Sheklashvilis and put in the detention setting of South Ossetia. During detention they were close to administrative border with South Ossetia.

The detainees were released on October 15 after five day detention and interrogation.

The former detainees said the armed people were asking them different information when taken to South Ossetia. They even asked names of their family members and inquired whether they had participated in the 2008 war.

They said they were released after Georgian Dream’s majoritarian MP Manana Kobakhidze interfered in their case.
