Members of National Movement Quit Majority Fraction of Kutaisi City Council

October 23, 2012

‘Today, I quitted the National Movement because I believe it is more important to create a new fraction. I would like to declare that I always felt communication problem in the City Council that created plenty of problems. So, the new fraction will have better communication with opponents, colleagues and society. Complicated political period, which we are expecting soon, also suggested us to make this decision,” member of Kutaisi City Council Kakha Nuralidze left fraction National Movement with this statement on October 19. He is one of the founders of the Intervention Medical Center of the Western Georgia.

Nuralidze joined oppositionist members of the Kutaisi City Council who established a new fraction “Kutaisi.” Manager of the Kutaisi Lado Meskhishvili Academic Theater Giorgi Sikharulidze also joined this fraction. Several days before the elections of October 1, he made a statement about leaving the city council but later, he changed decision and joined the new fraction.

“I stay in the city council as a partly-less, independent member. I stay with the people whose opinions are important for me and which I share,” Sikharulidze clarified.

Oppositionist member of the City Council from the New Rights Mamuka Mgvdeladze said many deputies from the majority fraction want to join Kutaisi fraction. So, soon we will see some other members of the National Movement in this fraction. “I think it is very important because people are no longer scared,” Mgvdeladze added.
