Prime Time Got Interested in the Activities of Human Rights Center’s Correspondent

November 1, 2012

Esma Beridze, Guriis Moambe, Lanchkhuti

Four months ago Nino Mshvidobadze was fired from public relation service of Lanchkhuti district administration, where she worked as a specialist. However, newspaper Prime Time got interested in this fact just now.

Moreover, Nino Mshvidobadze said Prime-Time’s journalist contacted her on the phone and tried to speak about moral and dignity with her. The journalist alleged that being a representative of the press-center, Mshvidobadze was selling information for 35 USD.

After her conversation with the Prime Time’s journalist Nino Mshvidobadze decided to hold a briefing for media.

“Before the elections, Civic Development Institute, with Ia Antadze as a director, really implemented projects Citizen Journalist where people anonymously provided the organization with information and it was funded in the framework of the project; however, I- Nino Mshvidobadze did not cooperate with the Civic Development Institute in this project and no money was transferred to my account,” Nino Mshvidobadze said.

She added interested people can check the information with Ia Antadze.

Nino Mshvidobadze believes the purpose of this inquiry was to discredit her rather than to estimate the truth.

“Somebody is eager to discredit me in the society and uses such dirty methods. However she/he failed to foresee that Nino Mshvidobadze is never afraid to tell the truth even if it is painful for somebody; society can differentiate immoral and moral persons from each other. Besides that somebody forgot that people called Lanchkhuti district administration and municipal board Geobar [show-project of the TV-Company Rustavi 2]. Today, the same people, participants of Geobar, still occupy positions and do not wish to resign. However, it is fact that time and people will make them to resign from public service!”

“It was evident that Prime Time’s journalist was prepared to speak with me in such a tone by somebody. She was not going to protect rights of a person, who was illegally fired from job. Just the opposite, she was actively speaking about moral. Apparently, public servants, fancying National Movement, who still occupy positions in the district authority, do not like me acting as a journalist and my cooperation with such prestigious organizations like newspaper Rezonansi and nongovernmental organization Human Rights Center.  However, wherever I work, the society can distinguish moral and consciousness people from immoral ones. So, attempt of the National Movement’s members and fans to discredit me as a citizen and journalist, was disadvantageous for them at the very start and they should have realized it,” Nino Mshvidobadze said.

She also wondered how moral it is to break somebody’s skype account and read correspondence without owner’s permission. How moral it is to listen to people’s phone conversations? How moral is it to forbid public servant of the district administration, who is apolitical person, to meet and talk with her friend in the street, who supports opposition political party?

“If I was such a bad employee and accepted money for illegal service, why did they write in my dismissal notification that I was improperly implementing my duties? Where is moral and dignity here? How they can speak about moral when National Movement was acting immorally before elections, breached law, abused administrative resource and I, as a public servant, was obliged to keep my eyes blind at similar illegal activities… I am sorry but unlike my several former colleagues, I will never become “fan” of anybody – president, ruling party or district governor,” Nino Mshvidobadze said and added that soon she will appeal to the court for moral damage and several former and acting public servants will be held responsible before the law.
