“Association of Independent Students” Set Up Tents at Technical University

November 12, 2012

On November 12, Association of Independent Students set up tents at the entrance of the administrative building of the Georgian Technical University.

Chairman of the Association Lekso Kobaidze told Interpresnews that tents will remain in the area until their requests are satisfied.

“We request: to hold repeated elections of self-government and to annul results of previous elections because it was faked. We also request to fire those people from technical university who personally participate in our kidnapping; they are Boris Gitolendia, head of Sport, Culture and Students’ Affair Department at the University; Giorgi Kuldunashvili, that time president of the university self-government who works at the university administration now; Rezo Keldishvili – head of security service and Levan Tatishvili, lecturer of Technical University and that time head of third division of security service,” Lekso Kobaidze said.

He said unless the rector dismisses the aforementioned people, the students will request his resignation too.

“Our requests are completely legitimate and all of them shall be satisfied in order to finally hold impartial elections at the university and to fire people who participated in the kidnapping of people,” said Lekso Kobaidze.

Students set up seven tents in front of the administrative building of the university. Kobaidze and students gave two days to the university administration to satisfy their requests. Besides, students call upon their mates to join their protest.
