Teacher Kidnapped from School Yard during President’s Visit Appealed to Prosecutor’s Office

November 16, 2012

Former teacher of Chalaubani village public school Lamzira Korchishvili, who was kidnapped on September 26, 2011 during president Saakashvili’s visit in the region, has appealed to the prosecutor’s office. The teacher blames former chief police officer Levan Bitskinashvili with her kidnapping and requests to punish him.

“Last August, school director Lali Kudashvili, who is relative of Kakheti region deputy governor Aleko Kakhidze, sacked me from school for no reason. On September 26 I learned that President was coming to attend opening ceremony of Melaani village public school. I went to meet him and to give him a complaint letter about my illegal dismissal. That time head of Gurjaani district police Levan Bitskinashvili approached me and ordered to leave the territory; he threatened with dragging me out unless I obeyed his order. Two men grabbed me, Levan Bitskinashvili was the third and they dragged me to the other side of the street. When we were far from people, I resisted them but they put me into the car; they hit me against the door with my head and I do not know how I turned up in Kachreti hospital. I have not yet appealed to the prosecutor’s office because it was useless. Now, I have sued Bitskinashvili at the prosecutor’s office,” Lamzira Korchishvili told ICK.

On October 1, 2011 ICK published a video where Lamzira Korchishvili tells how she was kidnapped and beaten on September 26 in Melaani during President’s visit.

On October 1, ICK found out that Lamzira Korchishvili was kidnapped by Levan Bitskinashvili’s car. Silver Mercedes with state number GEG 020 is registered on Gurjaani district department of MIA. After the information about teacher’s kidnapping was spread, Levan Bitskinashvili resigned from the position based on his personal application. However, in July of 2012 he occupied position of deputy head of Kakheti regional main department of MIA where he worked till October of 2012. The case about teacher’s kidnap was not investigated yet.
