November 27, 2012

Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Chamber Paata Shavadze requests to fire several prosecutors from Batumi and Khevachauri district prosecutor’s offices. He alleged those people carried out illegal activities.

Paata Shavadze, chairman of the Anti-Corruption Chamber: “Head of Adjara Prosecutor’s Office Zviad Pkhakadze, prosecutor Mikael Kobuladze, Batumi deputy prosecutor Simon Gogilashvili and prosecutors Zaza Metonidze and Giorgi Liluashvili shall immediately resign from their positions. I request Adjara prosecutor Levan Gzirishvili to immediately start criminal cases against those people.”

Shavadze said those prosecutors unfairly implemented their duties and breached human rights. According to his clarification, lawsuits of prisoners from Batumi prison also prove their illegal activities.

Paata Shavadze claims they sent evidence to the chief prosecutor’s office 25 days ago and Anti-Corruption Chamber is waiting for relevant respond to them.
