Presentation – Manual about Political Prisoners in Georgia

On December 20, at 12:00 pm Human Rights House Tbilisi will present research “Manual about Political Prisoners in Georgia” in the office of the Open Society Georgia Foundation.

One of the main goals of the research was to work out criteria for the identification of status of political prisoners that have been a significant problem in Georgia.

This publication “Manual about Political Prisoners in Georgia” was prepared within the framework of the project “Uniting Georgian Civil Society to Jointly Study the Issue of Political Prisoners” and implemented by Human Rights House Tbilisi with the financial support of Open Society –Georgia Foundation. 

The group working on the research unified representatives of human rights nongovernmental and media organizations.

“Manual about Political Prisoners in Georgia” covers: review of history of political prisoners in Georgia and current situation, criteria of international organizations (CoE, Amnesty International), practice of the European Court of Human Rights in relation with the politically motivated cases, international and local reports about political prisoners in Georgia, analysis of the Georgian legislation and criteria worked out by the working group.
