Parliament to Fund Bureaus of Majoritarian MPs

December 18, 2012
Local self-governmental bodies will no longer fund bureaus of majoritarian MPs. The Parliament of Georgia will provide financial support for the local offices of their members in the regions of Georgia.

Members of both majority and minority of the Parliament of Georgia voted for the amendments at the plenary session on December 17.

“It is a step forward in order to separate authorities of legislative, executive and local governments. Local self-government is completely different authority and governmental body is the government’s branch,” said MP Zviad Dzidziguri from the majority.

Parliamentary majority evaluated this decision as politically correct decision.
