Irma Chkadua – Convicted for Levan Kaladze’s Murder on Hunger Strike

January 11, 2013

Levan Tsintsadze, convicted for the murder of Levan Kaladze, brother of the minister of energy Kakha Kaladze, started hunger-strike. His lawyer Irma Chkhadua told Interpresnews that her client requests to revise Kaladze’s case and added that she is going to file Levan Tsintsadze’s application to the prosecutor’s office today.

“After the new government announced that every person, who believes that he is arbitrary prisoner, could apply to the prosecutor’s office, Levan Tsintsadze and his lawyers submitted about 60-page lawsuit to the prosecutor’s office. Levan Tsintsadze is not guilty in the murder. Based on many new circumstances we requested launch of a new investigation into the case though in vain. They replied they do not have mechanism to revise the case at this stage. Tsintsadze started hunger-strike and appeals to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Justice and Chief prosecutor of Georgia, as well as to Kakhi Kaladze, to get interested in indentifying real murderers of Levan Kaladze. He requests meeting with the prosecutor and launch of new investigation into the case,” Chkadua said.

The lawyer added that Tsintsadze is not going to stop hunger-strike until his innocence is proved.

“Tsintsadze appeals to Kakhi Kaladze with an apology and urges him to get interested in this case. Levan Tsintsadze is fully aware that it is tragedy for the family but he believes the Kaladzes family deserves to know the truth. He obliges the state to estimate the truth about this accident once and for ever,” said Chkadua.

According to her, they will deliver Vakhtang Komakhidze’s documentary film to the prosecutor’s office alongside Tsintsadze’s application.

“Very important details of this case are revealed in this film,” Chkadua said.
