Noise at the Georgian Dream’s Session in Bagdati

January 24, 2013

On January 22, the constituent assembly of the party Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia was held in Bagdati where mandated representatives of the party were invited. The meeting started with noise, as activists of the Georgian Dream also wanted to attend the meeting, but they did not have mandates, and were not allowed to attend it.

Activists, who could not attend the meeting, blamed the acting chairman of the Georgian Dream’s  Bagdati organization Tinatin Kelenjeridze  for having passed decision alone  . “She did not give mandate to us - real activists of the Georgian Dream on purpose. It was her individual decision. Besides, Kelenjeridze had never been particularly active during election campaign either. We request  her resignation  and allow us to elect honorable candidate,”, said a Bagdati resident, who was not allowed into the session.

Despite aforementioned incidents,  , the meeting started at 2 o’clock.  However, activists, who attended the meeting, demanded Tinatin Kelenjeridze to leave the meeting and the party too. In order to calm the situation a break was announced at the meeting.

MP Davit Lortkipanidze from the parliamentary majority attended the meeting.  “There are two real candidates for the position of the head of Bagdati organization: Tinatin Kelenjeridze and Maya Kbilashvili. I think, local people shall elect the chairman of the Georgian Dream’s local office,” said Davit Lortkipanidze.

After the break, Omar Nishnianidze said: “As a result of negotiation,, we decided to increase the number of delegates from 100 to 150, that will   show real result of public desire.”
Tinatin Kelenjeridze, the head of Georgian Dream” Bagdati organization, denies accusations against her and is going to prove her truth at the meeting.

Maya Kbilashvili agrees with the accusations against Kelenjeridze and demands to increase the number of delegates at the meeting.

After break, Georgian Dream’s representatives decided to quit the meeting and declared that next meeting would be hold on January 26. 150 delegates of the Georgian Dream’s local office will attend the meeting. They will elect the chairman through secret ballot.
