Citizens of South Korea Protest at the Georgian State Chancellery

February 5, 2013

Ten citizens of South Korea protest outside the State Chancellery demanding help from Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.

The South Koreans hold posters with slogans: “Protect foreigners’ rights”, “Swindlers must leave the country”, “Re-investigate cases”, “Restore Justice”, “Fair court”, “Is Georgia a swindlers’ country?”

South Korean Cha Ho Park told InterPressNews he had arrived in Georgia to invest here, though he was deceived. He said he had arrived in Georgia in 2007 to invest USD 8.500,000 in the construction business. He met MP Nikoloz Kvezereli, former Minister of Finance Mirian Gogiashvili, head of Georgia-Asian Chamber of Commerce Koba Kikriashvili and Nana Esakia. Cha Ho says Nikoloz Kvezereli and Mirian Gogiashvili promised to assist him in the relations with state structures and requested 30% share in his business in exchange of their support. Korean investor said notary Soso Mumladze took part in the deal.

“They extorted USD 8.500,000 from me. Investigation imposed criminal liability on Nikoloz Kvezereli and Nana Esakia, but nobody reimbursed my damage. The former deputy prosecutor Davit Sakvarelidze promised me to impartially investigate the case, though he did not keep his promise. Prosecutor’s Office also appointed BGI lawyer for me, who purposefully lost my trial; so now I remained without my property,” said Cha Ho Park.

He added that Nikoloz Kvezereli has already left prison as a political prisoner and he is not going to reimburse his damage. Nana Esakia is also free.

“Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and Vice-mayor Mamuka Akhvlediani were in coalition with the aforesaid people. However, prosecutor’s office did not study their responsibility in this case. Tbilisi City Hall with all its services acts against us today; judicial authority has not discussed our case for two years and did not approve the appeal statement; as a result my property could be sold at any time”, Cha Ho Parker said.

The South Korean citizen addresses to Bidzina Ivanishvili, saying that only the Prime Minister can help him.

“Please operatively attend to my case to estimate the truth and protect legal interests of both Georgian citizens and the investor. You are my only hope for impartial investigation and solution of my problem,” the statement reads.

Cha Ho Parker says he had to invest in the construction of a residential house in Barnov Street.
