Lado Vardzelashvili, former Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, was detained with regard to the incident that took place on Nutsubidze Street 26 yesterday. Lawyer Gogita Gabaidze informed journalists about it having left the Tbilisi main police department.

The weapon belonged to Vardzelashvili’s relative Vakhtang Bichikashvili, who was also detained. However, the gun was kept in Vardzelshvili’s safe.

Charge has not yet imposed on Vardzelashvili so far but supposedly he would be charged for illicit storage of firearms under the Criminal Code of Georgia.

Tbilisi Main Police Department is investigating the criminal case.

Devi Siradze, an employee of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, was killed in Lado Vardzelashvili’s flat last night. According to current information, their friend, who had arrived from Greek, accidentally shot gun and killed Siradze.

Family members and friends of Devi Siradze tell details about the accident.

Devi Siradze’s body was taken to his flat in Kipshidze Str. # 5a from the Samkharauli National Forensic Expertise Bureau.

The relatives of the dead person told Interpresnews that it was accident and they do not sue the detainee.

The widow said that she was in Lado Vardzelashvili’s house together with her husband last night.

Besides, Siradze’s relatives said they do not know who had arrived from Greek. They just said it was party of friends and their spouses.

Reportedly, the wounded man fainted in the lift and before ambulance arrived he died; though he was delivered to hospital but as friends said Siradze was wounded in the chest. The conclusion of the Expertise Bureau will be ready in one month.

They added the person who had accidentally shot the gun made testimony to police officers last night and he is already detained.
