Khatuna Berdzenishvili to Apply to Court for her Reinstatement to Former Position

March 7, 2013

Khatuna Berdzenishvili, former head of the department public-political programs of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) is going to apply to court for the reinstatement to her former position, she said speaking at the March 6 briefing.

“All of the organizations having taken part in reporting on the news service balancing, motoring-related issues have contacted me in person. They are very much concerned about recent developments at the broadcaster and most likely from tomorrow international organizations are going to get involved into this process,” said Berdzenishvili.

Media.Ge tried to contact Berdzenishvili to find out who is going to be her defender at court. ”I am busy now, I am at the meeting,” she responded.

GPB’s former Director General Giorgi Baratashvili is going to apply to the court for his reinstatement. Media Advocacy Center under the Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) will be defending the rights of Giorgi Baratashvili.

The same organization is not authorized to render legal aid to Berdzenishvili. According to the Code of Ethics for Attorneys an attorney has no right to provide professional advice or represent two or more clients at the same or related cases provided there is a conflict of interest or high possibility of its initiation.
