On March 13 the initiative team of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) lodged an application to Tbilisi City Court over the termination of the contest announced for the vacancy of GPB Director General.
The complaint the initiative team delivered to Media.Ge says that they are writing on behalf of the majority of GPB employees.
“We would like to inform you that in relation to the recent developments around GPB (dismissal of Director General by Board of Trustees - 04.03.2013) the GPB staff declares mistrust to the Board of Trustees,” reads the paper sent to the court reportedly signed by up to 500 GPB employees.
The deadline for the submission of applications for the vacancy expires on March 14, 21 applicants are currently running for the position.
Today, March 13 GPB’s ex Director General Giorgi Baratashvili applied the court for the reinstatement to the former position. Giorgi Baratashili too made a request for the termination of the contest announced by the Board of Trustees for the vacant top position. “To prevent further crisis at the public broadcaster we would kindly request you to urgently examine the aforementioned application and prior to the final judgment, ASAP issue a decision on the termination of the contest for the vacant position of Director General,” reads the application submitted to the court by the GPB staff.
