Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia fulfilled the recommendation of the Public Defender of Georgia

March 15, 2013

Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia fulfilled the recommendations of the Public Defender of Georgia on providing financial assistance to the patient R.B. for his/her medical treatment.

On February 25, 2013 I.B. addressed the Public Defender of Georgia for financing medical service of his/her sister R.B.

R.B. is a teacher and utilized the state insurance program rendered for the public school teachers. Due to the termination of the contract by the Public School, the tenure of her insurance elapsed on January 1, 2013. In spite of restoring the contract to R.B., the termination of the agreement has resulted in suspension of the insurance period. From December 2012, R.B. has been placed in the intensive/critical care unit of one of the clinics. The insurance limit has exhausted due to the split in the insurance period and treatment costs were significantly excessive to financial capacities of R.B. and his/her relatives.

Public Defender of Georgia addressed the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia in order to provide financial assistance for R.B.’s medical treatment at the intensive care unit. The recommendation of Public Defender of Georgia has been fulfilled and the medical treatment costs will be reimbursed by the State.
