Protesters To Start Dry Hunger-Strike Near Batumi House of Justice

March 25, 2013

On March 23th, hunger-strikers held a demonstration near Batumi Justice House. If their demands are not satisfied they will start dry hunger-strike. It is already a week that hunger-strikers request to dismiss Avtandil Kiladze, the head of investigation agency in Adjara Prosecutor’s office.

Paata Shavadze, lawyer: “if Avtandil Kiladze continues working in his office on Monday, we will apply to an extreme measure of protest-dry-hunger strike”.

Former political prisoners also attended the demonstration. “These people are victims of that old regime. Because of this I am here and stand next to them”, stated former political prisoner Gocha Mukhashavria.

Prosecutor Levan Gzirishvili at Adjara Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the demonstration: “We process submitted applications and complaints. Whilst we have no evidence to prove prosecutor’s crime or disciplinary mistake, it will be unfair to dismiss him from the position. At first we have to discuss the case and make conclusion,” Gzirishvili said.
