Mtatsminda district deputy governor not allowed crossing the border at the airport

April 10, 2013

Iva Chkonia, Mtatsminda district deputy governor was not allowed to cross the border at the Tbilisi airport.

According to Chkonia, he faced the same problem a week ago too. Then he was clarified that he was summoned to the financial police for interrogation. Though   as Chkonia said, he had not received summon.

According to Chkonia, law enforcement officers did not impose any restrictions him so he does not know the reason of not allowing him to cross the border.

“I was going on holiday a week ago, but I was stopped at the border and told there was something wrong with my passport. I was waiting approximately for half an hour. Then I talked to somebody, who told me that I was summoned to the financial policy, but I had not received a relevant letter and they asked me not to cross the border. On the next day I went to the police, answered all their questions and I was allowed to go. A week passed after that. I have taken a holiday but they still created problems for me but do not clarify the reason,” Chkonia said.
