May 2, 2013

Miekheil Mamalashvili, Kakheti

Substantial discussion of Davit Adeishvili’s case at the Telavi district court is underway; Davit Adeishvili is brother of Zurab Adeishvili, former Minister of Justice of Georgia. At the trial on April 30, prosecutor introduced victim Ioseb Gotsiridze as a witness. The latter said that he and his colleagues were intimidated by Davit Adeishvili who compelled them to cancel purchase of Telavi agricultural market.

“We visited Adeishvili in his working room; he smiled and asked – “do you want to buy market? Do you think I will allow you to purchase such a huge place in the town center? Unless you sell the market to Khangoshvili, you know where my brother works and he will take up your case then. I will finish you; you will never live in Telavi.”Kakheti region former governor Petre Tsitskarishvili was there too and listened to our conversation. He did not say anything and agreed with Adeishvili by nodding his head,” the witness said at the trial.

Davit Adeishvili is accused of abuse of his professional authority. According to the prosecutor’s office, in 2005, being deputy regional governor Davit Adeishvili compelled Telavi market owners to give their assets to Jibrail Khangoshvili. Imprisonment was imposed on the accused in absentia. According to official information, he is hiding from investigation and declared wanted.

Next trial on Davit Adeishvili’s case will be held at 12:00 pm on May 21.
