Georgia Ranked 94th Place among Best Countries to Be a Mother

International humanitarian organization Save the Children published rating of the best countries for motherhood in 2013. According to the rating, Nordic countries are the best to be mother in and African countries are the worst.

Georgia ranked 94th place in the rating of the Save the Children. According to the survey, index of mothers’ mortality was one in 960 women in 2010; 20.5 out of 1 000 children up to 5 died in 2011; predicted index of formal education is 13, 2 and Gross Domestic Product per capita in 2011  was 2, 860 USD; in 2013 percentage of women in the government of Georgia is 12,0%.

The International Organization carried out the survey in 176 countries. The authors used five criteria – risk of mothers’ mortality, under-5 deaths, level of development of women, Gross Domestic Product, number of women in authority. The survey covered period from 2010 to 2013.

Finland ranked the first place. Top ten countries to be mother are: Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, Belgium, Germany and Austria. Democratic Republic of Congo occupied the last place in the rating.
