Inmate of Penitentiary establishment # 9 Gia Alavidze started hunger-strike. He requests revision of his case. Alavidze said he had already petitioned to the parliament of Georgia and Chief Prosecutor’s Office but they have not responded to his petition so far. Human Rights Center’s lawyer Eka Kobesashvili defends Alavidze’s interests.

Gia Alavidze is author of the footage, which were aired by TV-Company Maestro in 2009 and revealed real imprisonment terms of the convicted in Sandro Girgvliani’s murder.

The video-footage (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiL3G70DgV8 ) shows that convicted for Sandro Girgvliani’s murder enjoyed some privileges in the territory of prison.

Alavidze was arrested soon after the footage was depicted; he was charged in swindle and sentenced to twenty year imprisonment. Alavidze claims he was arbitrarily detained and connects his arrest with the published footage.
