People Request Resignation of Gardabani District New Governor

After parliamentary elections, district governors were changed in every district of Kvemo Kartli region. In Gardabani, the new governor occupied the position during four months and was resigned several days ago. Municipal board gave preference to his deputy Nugzar Chaduneli and elected him to the position of the interim district governor.

One part of Georgian Dream’s activists protested this fact in front of the district administration and requested to change the new interim governor.

“Nugzar Chaduneli was elected to the position of the interim governor. This person was Chekist. He worked according to the instructions of Vazha Leluashvili, former head of Constitutional Security Department in Kvemo Kartli. He should not work as a district governor,” Asat Khudadov, one of the protesters said.

Interim district governor Nugzar Chaduneli commented on public protest. “I do not deny that I worked in the security service till 2004. After National Movement came in government, 50 people were sacked from the service and I had been unemployed till 2012. Then Bidzina Ivanishvili stepped on political stage and I stood beside him. By the way, I wonder who these people are; are they members of the Georgian Dream?!” Chaduneli wondered.

Protesters intend to arrive in the head office of the Georgian Dream to request Chaduneli’s resignation.
