Three Georgian priests have been suspended in Margveti and Ubisi eparchy, archbishop of Patriarch Father Teodore Chuadze told InterPressNews. This was the decision by the special commission of the Patriarchate.

As for the motive of the commission’s decision, Teodore Chuadze restrained from naming the reason and said that it is the interior affairs of the church. The decision was preceded by the confrontation of the locals with the clergymen in Ubisi and Margveti.

The locals accused them of violating confession secrecy rule, misappropriation of the church property and leading dissolute life.

Today the special commission members met with the parish, clergymen and the local government representatives. The locals addressed the patriarchate for help. Biship Vaktang Akhvlediani is accused of embezzlement of property and not following the church laws.
