Chairman of Gori municipal board Davit Razmadze and other representatives of local and central government participated in the events organization in the frame of pre-election campaign of the presidential candidate of the ruling party Giorgi Margvelashvili in Gori.

Keti Bebiashvili of GYLA said that their participation in the election campaign was not law violation:

“Participation of the chairman of municipal board in the pre-election campaign cannot be evaluated as law violation and misuse of administrative resources because in accordance to the amendments to the law, status of the chairman of the municipal board and district governor is defined as political position and they can participate in the pre-election campaign,” Ketevan Bebiashvili said.

Lawyers say that although the law was not breached, participation of the governmental officials in the election campaign of one candidate creates unequal conditions for other candidates and this fact indicates at the shortcomings in the Election Code.
