De-facto government of South Ossetia has been setting wires close to the administrative boarder line of the occupied territory in Shida Kartli region for the past few months already.

Several days ago, they renewed installment of fences in Ditsi village, Gori district. The occupation line has moved forward several hundred meters in Ditsi village; this territory is controlled by the Georgian side.

Representatives of frontier forces of Russia and non-recognized republic continued demarcation of the so-called border in another village of Dvani, in Kareli district. Local residents have agricultural plots in the area, where Russian officers are installing fence now. Plots and gardens of local population are now on the other side of the ABL and cannot get harvest from their gardens now.

“This territory has been ours for many centuries and now they claim the border line is here. They started installation yesterday. Plots of several dozen families are now on the other side of the border line. They dragged the border about 500 meters forward; people have not collected their harvest yet,” Zaza Kobadze, attorney of Dvani village, said.

Representatives of the Russian and de-facto government of Tskhinvali gave two days to local residents to collect harvest in their plots. Afterwards, they will not be able to enter the territory as the de-facto officials from Tskhinvali said.

“In accordance to the Constitution of South Ossetia, the state border is the same as the border of former South Ossetia; so the fences are installed on that line in order to avoid provocations. We might negotiate about collecting harvest because we do not need strange people’s harvest; however, after the border line is fixed, they will not be able to move on this territory,” Robert Gazaev, de-facto official of Tskhnivali said.

Head of analytic department of the Georgian MIA Davit Sujashvili also arrived in Dvani; he studied the situation on the place. Representatives of local and central governments of Georgia condemn installment of wires and fences by the Russian occupation forces and call on all parties to immediately stop the process. Due to security of Dvani population, subunits of the MIA stay in the village together with the representatives of EUMM.
