Concert of Bera Ivanishvili and Restricted Transport Movement in Kutaisi

On September 24, Bera Ivanishvili gave a concert in one of the rehabilitated old districts of Kutaisi to support Giorgi Margvelashvili, presidential candidate of the Georgian Dream.

Preparations for this concert started three days before. Transport movement got restricted in the central street of the city from September 22. Central Square was blocked and large stage was installed there. Locals could only walk in the vicinities of the stage.

Representatives of the transport service of the local self-government said the patrol police ordered to restrict movement without asking permission from them.

As for the changed itineraries of the public transports, the transport service of the City Hall took care of it. On September 23 and 24 they worked out special temporary itinerary for the public transport.

“Concert and entertainment is good but we should remember that blocking central street during three days is too much. Current government used to criticize National Movement for similar activities in the past and claimed: they are impudent and do not care about people. Nowadays, they do the same,” Giorgi Gureshidze from Kutaisi said.

Other people also complain about this fact and blame the central government, namely the Georgian Dream, in the restriction of transport movement.

“Instead concerts, the government should think of some other initiatives to support people and implement those promises, they gave to us before parliamentary elections. People need bread and working places, not entertainment,” locals complained.

Locals protested blocked streets and restricted transport movement two weeks ago too, when election office of the presidential candidate of the Georgian Dream Giorgi Margvelashvili was presented in the rehabilitated square of Kutaisi.
