Guria Region Calculates Impact of Natural Disaster

At the end of September another natural disaster attacked Guria Region. Ozurgeti district interim governor Konstantine Sharashenidze said the central road linking Shroma and Ureki, several houses, river dams and bridges were damaged. The streets are flooded. 

“It even snowed on Gomi Mountain. Pastures faced some problems because of early snow and special unit went to rescue them in the morning,” Sharashenidze said.

Heavy rain created threat of landslide in Atsana village of Lanchkhuti district.

Attorney of Atsana territorial entity Ucha Chkhaidze told humanrights.ge that number of landslide cracks has significantly increased in the village. The landslide damaged the Shukuti-Mamati road.

Attorney of Supsa village Beso Kupradze said bridge was damaged in Akhalsopeli village within Supsa territorial entity.

The flooded river destroyed electricity distribution posts in Chokhatauri. The flooded river drifted a man away, who was collecting firewood on the bank – rescue team helped him.

Water fully covered the road linking Aketi and Nagomari villages – Supsa River changed its direction and flew along the road.

Internal roads and bridges were damaged in Nigvziani, Grmagele and Supsa villages in Lanchkhuti district. Plots are flooded.

According to the press-center of Lanchkhuti district administration, as a result of the September 25 natural disaster, landslide fell in Atsana village on the Shukhuti-Atsana central road. District governor Zaza Urushadze visited the area together with the head of infrastructure service Tengiz Kheladze. The local authorities are calculating the incurred material damage.
