106 polling stations are registered in Gori Election District # 32; big part of them is located in the buildings of public schools. First stage of supplying polling stations with equipment has already started. 7 out of 13 PS commission members represent political parties and 6 were selected by the DEC as a result of competition. Chairperson of the Gori DEC # 32 Malkhaz Miruashvili told humanrights.ge that 1 355 applications were submitted to occupy 636 vacant places of commission members.

“Preparation for the presidential elections is going on in peaceful environment. DEC selected 6 out of 13 commission members as a result of competition and we have good results – the training conducted by the Central Election Commission confirmed it. Gori ranked second place in the rating according to the attendance and activity of training participants. As for other seven members, six of them represent political parties from the Coalition and one represents the United National Movement,” Malkhaz Miruashvili said.

Balance of the positions of commission chairpersons, their deputies and secretaries of polling stations is more or less maintained. It is regulated by Article 251 of the Organic Law of Election Code of Georgia. According to the law, representatives of one political subject cannot occupy positions of the commission chairman, deputy and secretary.

The results of all 106 polling stations in Gori DEC # 32 are the following: 27 of the commission members nominated by the Georgian Dream were elected to the position of commission chairmen; 17 of them are deputy chairpersons and 15-sectretaries. Only one of the UNM nominated commission members was elected to the position of deputy chairperson and five to the positions of secretary. In other polling stations, commission members not representing any political party were elected to the positions of chairpersons, deputies and secretaries.

Malkhaz Miruashvili said in one case – in Sveneti polling station # 97, the commission had breached the law, where Coalition members occupied positions of the chairman and deputy that was already improved.

Today, Gori DEC # 32 started distribution of election cards where voters will check their personal data. If any errors are discovered, they shall immediately apply to the CRA or election commission to correct mistake.
