Margvelashvili’s Pre-Election in Adjara

October 16, 2013

Maka Malakmadze, Adjara

Margvelashvili started his pre-election meetings in Adjara from Kobuleti. Due to bad weather, the meeting was organized in the hall of the Hotel Inturisti. Children in the Coalition’s t-shirts met the presidential candidate and gave a basket with sweets and fruit to him. Minister of Healthcare of Georgia Davit Sergeenko introduced the Presidential Candidate to the voters from Kobuleti.

Margvelashvili spoke about the reforms implemented by the government of Georgia and promised voters that in case of victory, the government, the parliament, president and people will jointly work for the better future of Georgia.

“It will be absolutely different country. It will not be a country of any political party or any leader; it will be the country of Georgian citizens. It means that by electing me on October 27, you will not grant authority to me but the authority will be assigned back to you, the people, who really hold the authority,” Margvelashvili said.

Executive director of the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia Armaz Akhvlediani said Giorgi Margvelashvili is worthy and alternative-less candidate of the Coalition.  “Giorgi Margvelashvili will be everybody’s president. I am sure, on October 27, Georgian people will choose humble, devoted candidate with the sense of civil culture.”

Later on, young people in t-shirts of the Georgian Dream’s logo met Margvelashvili in the hall of the sport-school in Batumi. Khelvachauri district electorate met him there because of bad weather.

Population brought by dozens of mini-buses was waiting for the Presidential Candidate for several minutes in front of the Batumi Sport School. Giorgi Margvelashvili presented election program to the Khelvachauri district residents and promised them to actively work for the resolution of their problems. The population requested the candidate to resolve problems of roads, citrus and agriculture.

“Our citrus harvest has been spoilt for the past years. Though, it is our annual income. Our district is not supplied with gas either. Set of problems shall be settled,” Merab Beridze from Khelvachauri said.

Margvelashvili met electorate from Keda district again in the Sport School. Locals were brought to the meeting by mini-buses. School children also attended meeting with the Georgian Dream’s presidential candidate.

“There are several acute problems in this district; problems of eco-migrants and displacement. The government actively works on these issues but we cannot see any resource to regulate them so far,” Margvelashvili told voters from Keda.

After the meeting with the Keda population, Giorgi Margvelashvili met voters in Shuakhevi and Khulo. Dance Company Bermukha met him with concert in Khulo.

During the meeting in Khulo, Margvelashvili spoke about the issues of religious minorities: “We will have completely new country; both Abkhaz and Ossetian peoples will see that our future depends on cooperation and joint development of the country. I guarantee you that religious minorities will no longer face any problems on religious grounds.”

On October 6, the presidential candidate met voters together with the PM Bidzina Ivanishvili in Batumi.

Bidzina Ivanishvili addressed to the Batumi population and suggested to support Giorgi Margvelashvili. “Today we have European government and in several days we will have everybody’s president instead a leader of a concrete political party. Giorgi Margvelashvili will protect your rights and will serve you.”

“Despite many provocations, we have never swerved from the constitutional course. We will get rid of the remains of the cohabitation peacefully,” Giorgi Margvelashvili addressed to the voters in Batumi. The meeting was held in the Art Center of Batumi. After an hour speech, neither Ivanishvili nor Margvelashvili made comments with media.
