Supervision service of the Gori district administration warned representatives of the United National Movement and Georgian Dream and ordered to remove election posters from the buildings, on which the municipal board had not issued the permission to put up posters.

Head of Supervision Service Giorgi Shengelia clarified that mostly the posters of Giorgi Margvelashvili and Davit Bakradze are put up in similar places. “We have warned both UNM and GD; the latter has already implemented the order, UNM promised but has not removed yet and today we are obliged to fine them,” Giorgi Shengelia said.

Representative of the UNM’s Gori office Zviad Khmaladze said that based on the resolution of the municipal board, district administration had to place special boards for the political parties to put up their election posters on it. Since the district administration did not install the boards, the restriction was automatically canceled. Zviad Khmaladze: “We waited for the ruling party to put up the posters of their candidate and afterwards we also put up the posters of our candidate; the district administration removed Margvelashvili’s posters and left Bakradze’s ones on the place in order to impose fine on us. We will appeal their decision at the court.”

Supervision service did not impose any restrictions on the political parties to put up their agitation materials on. This year, the regulations were established and every political party, which does not follow the instructions, will be initially warned by the supervision service and then fined if the violation is not eradicated.
