President Pardoned Tsotne Mamulashvili

President Mikheil Saakashvili pardoned former employee of the NATO Information Center Tsotne Mamulashvili. The latter was grandson of the Poet Iza Orjonikidze and son of painter and publicist Maya Orjonikidze; His lawyer Levan Javakhadze said his client was sentenced to 6, 3 year in jail on October 24 and was arrested in the courtroom.

Tsotne Mamulashvili was first detained on February 14. Painter and expert of the NATO Information Center was accused of assault on the Lombard. He was convicted under Article 179 Part II of the Criminal Code of Georgia – assault by a group. 

Civil sector petitioned to the President, Prime-Minister, Parliament, Chairman of the Supreme Court, Minister of Justice, Public Defender and CSOs with regard to Tsotne Mamulashvili’s case. Maya Orjonikidze connected the detention of her son with her opposition statements.
